Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I hire a freelance bookkeeper instead of a firm or an in-house bookkeeper?
Hiring a freelance bookkeeper gives you direct, consistent service without the overhead of an in-house employee or the layers of a larger firm. You get accurate, up-to-date books, clear communication, and the flexibility to scale your bookkeeping as your business grows, while only paying for what you actually need.

Will I be working directly with you?
Yes. You’ll work directly with me for all communication and bookkeeping services. This allows for consistency, clarity, and a better understanding of your business over time.
How do you keep my financial information secure?
All access is handled through secure systems like QuickBooks Online, and your information is treated as confidential at all times.
What do I need to provide to get started?
I’ll guide you through what’s needed, but typically this includes access to your QuickBooks Online account and any relevant financial accounts.
How much time will this take on my end?
Very little. My job is to reduce your workload, not add to it. Once access is set up, most of the ongoing work is handled for you. The goal is to take bookkeeping off your plate, not add to it.
How often will my books be updated?
Transactions are reviewed regularly, with reconciliation completed on a monthly basis, and reporting done on monthly or quarterly basis, based on your preferences and needs.
How does billing work?
Monthly services are billed in advance. Cleanup or catch-up work is completed prior to ongoing service and require 50% of the fee in advance before any work is begun.
What if my business grows or changes?
Your bookkeeping can scale with your business. You can move between service levels as your needs change.
Is there a long-term contract?
No long-term contracts are required. Services are provided on a monthly basis. I do request that, if you decide at some point in the future that you no longer require my services, you give me a thirty-day notice.
Do you only work with QuickBooks Online?
Yes. I specialize exclusively in QuickBooks Online to ensure consistency and efficiency.
What types of businesses do you work with?
I work with a variety of small businesses. If you’re unsure whether it’s a good fit, feel free to reach out.
What does “Index Line” mean?
An index line is a reference point on a compass used to keep things aligned and consistent. That idea carries over into bookkeeping: keeping your financial records organized, accurate, and easy to follow.
